Get a Chinese Name!!!

Want a Chinese Name?

In China, names are two to three characters long, which consists of a one character long surname and a one to two character given name.

As is a common practice with with many Eastern nations, last names come first. So instead of my name acting like "Anders Swenson", it is more like "Swenson Anders". So my name would be spelled 石 (shí) (my surname) 安德 (Āndé) (my given name). So, "石安德" (Shí Āndé).

here is a link to an online Chinese name generator. Before you say online name generators don't give you an accurate name, this one does (Mrs. Hsiao uses it).

Why do you study Chinese?

Why do you study Chinese?

Why do you even bother learning any language?

Is it because your friends are? Do you wish to 'jump on the bandwagon', just because others are?

Is it for the business opportunities? Do you believe that you will have a greater chance of obtaining a decent job if you know Chinese?

Or is it for travel? Is visiting or living in China an aspiration of yours?

All of these are legitimate reasons. I wish to learn Chinese for these reasons as well. I have several friends who are learning Chinese, and a family member or two that can speak fluently, so I wish to
learn it as well. Seeing as China has become a major economic power, the need for workers who can speak the language is on the rise, therefor by learning Chinese, I will hopefully have a greater chance of landing a job in the future. My greatest reason for learning Chinese however, is that I wish to travel and experience the culture. To be able to emmerse myself in the culture of one of the oldest countries one the planet and gain a different perspective of the world would be an enlightening experience.

Please, tell why you wish to learn Chinese. Leave your response below.
